I’m a philosopher, conservationist, explorer, adventurer, scuba diver, sailing enthusiast, author, and entrepreneur. I spend most of my time wondering how to combine my two great loves: the ocean and forests. The rest of my time is spent planning another expedition with my family, or playing with our dogs. I’m a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Conservation
I’m deeply involved in conservation efforts, focusing on protecting and sustaining marine ecosystems. A big part of my work is supporting marine science research, especially projects led by indigenous and minority scientists. I’m also passionate about protecting our world’s natural history, particularly paleontological landmarks and heritage sites. I’m a proud member of the Society of Conservation Biology and the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology.
Advocacy
I believe every child deserves to go to bed with a full belly of nutritious food, to live in a safe and loving home, and to have access to the medicine they need. Each child should have loving parents, be hopeful about their future, and have the opportunity to fulfill their educational dreams. They should also have clothing, a safe roof over their heads, and access to clean water. And, every child should be able to explore nature in all its wonder and beauty.
